Brian Duggan

Brian Duggan is responsible for overall execution of fund strategy, with particular emphasis on financing, operations, and investor relations. Mr. Duggan brings Guardian almost two decades of experience in entrepreneurship, real estate, finance and investments having acquired, developed, managed and disposed of more than $1 billion in real estate across all asset classes. He was previously a Director at the Harlem Irving Companies and also worked with Mesirow Financial Real Estate, Ernst & Young Corporate Finance, and UBS Paine Webber.

Mr. Duggan has a degree in finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master of Science in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Virginia, and an MBA in Finance and Real Estate from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is also an Illinois Real Estate Broker. 


Gregory Martin

Gregory Martin manages all new construction and rehab at Guardian Capital. He has acquired, demolished, re-developed, rented and sold multiple single family and multi-unit projects over the last five years. As an employee of Vivify Construction from 2012 to 2014 Greg was responsible for the financing paper work, sub-contracting, project management and construction overview of over 250 units and provided oversight to over 40 million dollars of work in place. Since then, as principal with Guardian Properties, Greg has provided oversight to over 20 successful rehabs, began the construction of 3 single family homes and laid the groundwork for what will be a 5-10 million dollar new construction year for Guardian in 2015.


Jennifer Arons

Jennifer Arons has broad-based experience and deep expertise in residential real estate development. Working on sales and marketing, financial analysis, entitlement, product development and oversight of mid to large-scale urban and suburban residential projects, including: single-family homes; high-rise condominiums; lofts; affordable housing; mixed-use developments; townhomes; hotels and condominium conversions located in Illinois, Florida, Missouri, Washington DC, New Jersey, Alabama, Tennessee. She has over 20 years experience as a senior executive with oversight of over $7 billion in residential real estate development sales, and has been responsible for over 1,200 homes developed, marketed and sold each year.

Jennifer spent 3 years during the financial crisis at the FDIC in Washington DC in capital markets, securitizing assets out of failed financial institutions and working as a liaison to FHFA and FHA on over $15 billion of non-performing single family loan sales.


Al Spears

Al Spears manages the Default Servicing functions for Guardian Capital, including vendor management for foreclosure and bankruptcy actions. Mr. Spears has 27 years of experience in default servicing on both secured and unsecured loans. He recently retired from HSBC where he managed the entire cradle to grave foreclosure process across the US for 21 years.


 

Megan VanVelzel

Megan VanVelzel joins Guardian Capital as the newest member of the team. She is primarily responsible for managing disposition of all short sale and REO assets, while also handling property valuations and collection services. Prior to joining Guardian Capital Ms. VanVelzel assisted with loss mitigation and asset management duties at Bank of America and Loan Resolution Corporation. Megan holds a bachelor’s degree from the Arizona State University.

Lisa White

Lisa White is responsible for all aspects of accounting for Elmhurst Capital, including reporting and compliance. Lisa has over 20 years of accounting experience, first as an auditor with Blackman Kallick LLP (who merged with Plante & Moran Pllc in 2012) servicing clients in the service, real estate and non-profit sectors and then as an auditor in the real estate practice with American Express Tax and Business Services which was acquired by RSM McGladrey Business Services. Lisa also served as CFO for Mesa Development, a luxury condo developer in Chicago, IL and San Jose, CA and as CFO for Guardian Properties, a real estate developer of single family homes in Chicago. In addition, Lisa was responsible for all aspects of accounting and compliance for Walsh Investors LLC, and private real estate investment division of Walsh Construction.

Ms. White earned her bachelor degree in accounting from Indiana University and became a CPA in 1998.
